It is time to install the 120 nut plates for the fuel tanks on the main spar.

I used the same method that Dan Checkoway used, that is using a "pilot plate clamped to the spar to guide the counter sink bit. I know that it is not necessary, but, I feel that the results are better. For what it is worth I switched to the method that the instructions give for the inspection plates and the results are fine.

The pilot plate is first clecoed to the spar and then clamps are added.

After the clecoes are removed the countersink is cut. After that unclamp and start the process again. After 120 holes my hands had almost no feeling!!

A perfect countersink.

A couple holes with the nut plates already riveted on.

A shot from under the flange showing three of the nut plates. This weekend I will install the nut plates for the inspection plates and build the tie down / aileron bell crank bracket.
