Today I wanted to get as much of the work in the tailcone finished as I could. I started by leak testing my static ports I used my Blue mountain G4 Lite with the static line hooked up to the ASI and a syringe to pump a very small amount of air into the system. It held the same speed reading all day so I believe that I am good to go. I will have a full pitot/static check before I fly but I wanted to make sure that I would not have to climb into the tail section during the testing.

On to the custom work. These parts are for the mount for my TCAD and ELT. That is traffic and emergency locator for you non-pilots.

The bottom skin of RV's is famous for "oil canning" so I added some stiffeners. I used "structural tape" on Van's J channel material. The next two shots will show where I put these.

There is a bunch of new stuff in this picture. The TCAD is the silver box behind the TruTrac auto pilot servo.
The ELT is the yellow box. This is the new 406 Mhz device. The stiffeners are the next two bays back, two in the first bay and one in the next.

In this shot you can also see the suppression device that works with the transponder and the TCAD (the silver box just to the left of the ELT). The wiring still needs to be cleaned up and tied down. Maybe tomorrow.
